Fabrications is an independent gallery, shop and studio dedicated to all aspects of contemporary textiles and design. With a particular interest in recycling and Eco design.
Opened in June 2000 in a refurbished derelict shop on Broadway Market in Hackney, East London.

Fabrications also offer services across a variety of sectors, including:

	Commissioning and Consultancy
	Costume design and fabrication
	Décor and Dressing
	Exhibition design and curating
	Bespoke textiles
	Teaching, Mentoring and Workshops

Its founder Barley Massey, who trained at Goldsmith’s College in Textiles felt the empty shop would not only make a good studio space for her own practise, but also an excellent showcase area for other contemporary designer makers.

Since opening its doors Fabrications has hosted a wide selection of solo and themed group shows, selling events and takes part in the annual mapped open studios event Hidden Art and 100% Guaranteed – pick of the fringe, to run along side 100% Design. Numerous products and projects have also been designed and manufactured on the premises.

The gallery space is also available for hire for a reasonable weekly rate plus a small commission on sales. We are open to all kinds of proposals for exhibitions and events as well as film and photography shoots. Please refer to the about the space page for more details.
